Bulgaria is a
charming country, occupying the north eastern part of the Balkan
Peninsula. It has been an associated
member of the European Union since 1992 and in 1997 an agreement was signed
with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank for economic
stabilization and for carrying through of economic reforms in the country.
The moderate
continental climate has influence from the Black Sea in the east and
Mediterranean Seas from the south, allowing for activities throughout the year. Bulgaria is also home to warm and cold
mineral springs, coastal lakes of glacial origin as well as lakes in the Rila
and Pirin Mountains. These lakes provide
an eco-friendly home for the diverse plant life and animal species.
